Convert Spotify into Karaoke and read the lyrics of the songs

Listening to streaming music from our mobile or computer has become more than just a fad. Currently, it has established itself as a commonplace among music lovers.

With the appearance of platforms such as Spotify, which allows us to listen to music online even for free. This causes its use to skyrocket with millions of users around the world. Although for many it is the most complete application, it is no less true that it is not perfect, since, for example, it does not allow you to read the lyrics of the songs.

It is undoubtedly one of the defects of Spotify that its users miss the most, such as being able to read the lyrics of the songs in the application while they are playing. Something that shouldn't be a problem has become the main handicap of the platform, at least in its computer version.

And it is that, for the mobile version, it does have a function called "Genius" that allows us to view the lyrics of the songs that we play on Spotify. However, in its desktop version for computer, it has not been implemented. That is why today we are going to see how we can see the lyrics of the songs that sound on Spotify when we play them on Windows.

Applications to read song lyrics on Spotify

If we want to read the lyrics of the Spotify songs on our Windows PC, we will need to use third-party applications.

Musixmatch, the perfect complement for Spotify

It is a free application for Windows 10 that we will be able to download for free from the Microsoft Store. With it we will be able to visualize the lyrics of the songs while they sound on Spotify. To do this, we will start by downloading it by clicking on this link.

Once downloaded we will go on to execute. To do this, just type its name, "musixmatch" in the search box of the Start menu and click on it to start running.

Once executed, a welcome screen appears. In it, it informs us that the application is compatible with Spotify, so we will connect our account by clicking on the "Connect Spotify" button. Later, to establish the connection we must enter our username and password. Once synchronized, we proceed to open the Spotify application on the computer.

From the Spotify app we proceed to play a song and at that moment Musixmatch will be in charge of showing us the lyrics of the song that is playing on its own interface. We will also have a Play and Pause button to stop and resume the song. Likewise, it has a timeline to be able to move forward and backward.

At the bottom right, there is a button called «Edit Sync». This is a function that will allow us to improve the synchronization of the lyrics of the song we are listening to or even change the display. In this way, we can manually improve the synchronization of the lyrics in case they are not reproduced correctly with respect to the song.

Although it does not have a very attractive interface, the truth is that the application works correctly and has a fairly large database of lyrics. In addition, it also offers compatibility with iTunes and Windows Media, so we can also use them to read the lyrics of the songs.

Versefy, shows the lyrics of the songs in full

It is another application that has been specially developed so that we can read the lyrics of the songs while we play them on Spotify. It should be noted that it is only compatible with the desktop version, not being able to work with the web version. The application is completely free and we can download it from the Microsoft Store.

Once installed, we execute it by typing "versefy" in the search box of the Windows Start menu. Next, the lyrics of the song that we are playing on Spotify will appear immediately. Of course, the lyrics do not appear as we listen to them, but simply show us the full text of the song.

In its interface, it has some additional features such as the ability to zoom in on the letter, from 8 megapixels to 42 megapixels. It allows setting a light or dark background, as well as improving the display of the text by enabling the "Bold Font" option that we find in the lower right part. Finally, it has a focus mode, which will help us to eliminate any element related to the user interface. In this way, we can get more focused on the lyrics.

When importing the lyrics, the application uses three fonts, with the most popular web services dedicated to the collection of lyrics such as "Musixmatch", "Genius.com" and "Teskowo.pl". We can enable or disable them from its configuration menu, which we find in the lower right, with an icon in the form of a gear.
