With Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (version 1709), Microsoft introduced a new feature called My People
The feature, which was supposed to be included with the Creators Update for Windows 10, makes it easy for you to connect with your family and friends. With this feature, you can chat with your important contacts and share photos with them from the taskbar.
The My People feature adds a people bar to the Windows 10 taskbar. When you click the People icon or the people bar on the taskbar, Windows 10 displays your important contacts. By default, Windows 10 displays the most frequently interacted contacts in the people list.
My People makes it easy to quickly connect with your contacts to chat or share a photo using your favorite communication applications for Windows 10. In short, the My People feature helps you access your contacts and conversations quickly and easily.
By default, the People or People bar appears on the taskbar. But if you don't, or if you want to hide the People or People bar from the taskbar, you can do that in App Settings.
Follow the instructions below to add or remove the people bar from the Windows 10 taskbar.
Method 1
Step 1: Open the Settings app. Click on the customization icon.
Step 2: Click on Taskbar. This action will open all the taskbar settings.
Step 3: In the People section, uncheck Show people on taskbar to hide the people bar from the taskbar. Similarly, enable the same option to show people bar on taskbar
Method 2
Step 1: Click the People icon on the taskbar to see the list.
Step 2: Click on the three little dots (see image below) to see the people bar settings and the new contact options. Click the Settings option on the People bar.
Step 3: In the People section, uncheck Show people on the taskbar to remove the people bar from the taskbar. Activate the option to add the people bar to the taskbar. That's all!
