How to put the taskbar above the screen in Windows 11

Everyone knows that Windows 11 is the version that replaces Microsoft's operating system, Windows 10.

However, although most of the features and functions have been maintained, the truth is that some of the others have fallen by the wayside, such as the possibility of placing the taskbar at the top of the screen, which is not possible in Windows 11.

By default, Windows 11 displays the taskbar at the bottom of the screen. However, Windows 11 does allow you to change the alignment of the start menu and icons, for example, to the left. However, currently Windows 11 does not allow the placement of the taskbar at the top of the screen.

Windows 10 does not really incorporate a specific function for placing the taskbar at the top of the screen, however, it was possible to place it above the screen by unchecking the option: Unlock taskbar. This allowed you to drag the taskbar to the top of the screen and leave it positioned there.

This option and possibility has completely disappeared in Windows 11. This does not mean that in Windows 11 you cannot place the taskbar at the top of the screen, only that there is no intuitive way through the operating system settings to do it. However, we can use the Registry Editor to achieve this.

How to place the taskbar at the top of the screen in Windows 11

1. Open the Windows 11 Registry editor

2. Once here, you will have to go to:

Computer \ HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ StuckRects3

3. Once in this path, you will have to double click on the element: Settings

4. This will open a small window with a table of values. In this table you will have to place yourself in the second row.

5. Once in the 2nd row, move the position 5 times to the right whose value must coincide with 03.

6. Substitute the value 03 for that of: 01

7. Line followed click OK to save the changes.

8. Now you can close the editor window and proceed to restart your computer.

9. Once your computer has restarted, you will see how the task bar is automatically displayed at the top of the screen.

Important Note: in case you want to revert the changes, you will have to do exactly the same, but in this case replace the value 01 with that of 03.
