There is no doubt that when we refer to a Raspberry Pi, we are actually referring to the most popular microcomputer in the world. In fact, there are millions of users who in one way or another use this equipment, many of them based on the Raspberry Pi OS system.
Some of those of you who have already been able to use these mini equipment will already know first-hand all the benefits that we can get from it. But a good part of all this, of its functionality and usefulness, will be given by the base operating system that we choose. First of all, we can tell you that the device as such is made of open hardware.
This is something that directly affects all the possibilities that it presents to us in terms of its usability. We can also say that initially this is a mini computer that was designed thinking that it would work especially with Linux-based operating systems. Although the general trend is that, over the years we have seen other projects for the Raspberry Pi. In fact and as it has been seen on some occasions, it has even been possible to install a Windows system or the popular Android from Google.
Be that as it may, in one of these devices we have the possibility of downloading and installing a multitude of operating systems, but there is one that stands out. The main reason for this is that the Raspberry Pi Foundation has its own official operating system, which we know as Raspberry Pi OS. This in fact is a software that was previously known as Raspbian but its name has been migrated. Well, we tell you all this because it is precisely this official operating system for Raspberry Pi, which has just received a great update.
What's new in the new Raspberry Pi OS
Due to everything that the system update we are talking about brings with it, all users of these devices are urged to install it as soon as possible to test it. At this point, we will tell you that now the Raspberry Pi operating system is updated with a faster OpenSSH and software updates included. At the same time, as we are now learning, its developers have included several improvements over their previous update.
This was launched last March, but we must already look at the one that has just been launched. It is worth mentioning that this Raspberry Pi OS update continues to use the Linux 5.10.17 LTS kernel. The same happened in the March update that we discussed earlier. However here we find a series of package updates such as Chromium 88, Pigpio 1.79, Thonny 3.3.6, etc.
It is also worth noting that this new update also includes a GTK + 3 version of Rp-Bookshelf. In turn, fixes are released for memory failures for LXplug-Bluetooth and for alsa-utils in volume management.
On the other hand, when it comes to the integrated improvements, we find a higher speed of OpenSSH and OpenSSL
