Germany detects a new cyber attack from Russia

Security forces in Germany have detected a new cyber attack against email accounts of deputies, embassies and senior German officials from the Russian hacker group Snake, as reported Thursday by the magazine Der Spiegel.

The last cyberattack was detected on November 14 but it is still unknown if data were stolen in the process, as several security sources have assured the German publication.

The German Intelligence, in the frame of the investigation on the cybernetic campaign of Snake, has detected new attacks. The victims are mainly politicians and members of the Government, "said a source from the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV, for its acronym in German)

In April the BfV stated that there was a strong possibility that the Russian government was behind the cyber attack against German computer networks that occurred in December 2017 and was also related to the Snake hacker group

Senior officials have also asserted that Moscow is behind the attack that took place against the German Parliament in 2015. Russia has repeatedly rejected such accusations.
