Hackerville Romania the hackers paradise

A Romanian-German co-production inspired by the existence of a real Romanian city Ramnicu Valcea, two hours from Bucharest, which is a real haven for computer hackers

After a promising start 'Hackerville' does not quite hit the bullseye, to disperse too much in a story with possibilities but that quickly falls into places too common, especially with the appearance of a megavillain too corseted in his evil and without any nuance that It seems inspired by some of the demonic beings of 'Supernatural' both in appearance and behavior.

Despite quite deflating, it has interesting aspects such as filming in the beautiful Romanian city of Timisoara, so it does not stop having certain attractions for those of you who are more curious and enjoy European thrillers, as we are going to analyze below.

The plot: The unit of financial crimes of the German police in Frankfurt detects the attack of an unknown hacker to one of its main banks, to steal scarcely ten euros. Faced with the danger of being the outpost of an operation on a larger scale, they detect the origin of the attack in the Romanian city of Timisoara, the main center of hackers throughout Eastern Europe.

To investigate the facts and discover the culprit, German cyber-criminals send Timisoara to a young agent, Lisa Metz, daughter of Romanian parents who fled their country during the Ceaucescu dictatorship. Lisa was born and lived during her childhood in Timisoara where her house is still preserved. His presence is to take advantage of his Romanian-German bilingualism in front of the habitual hermetism of the local authorities before the arrival of foreign agents as we can see in the long trailer of the series.

At his arrival, he is assigned a tanned Romanian sergeant Adam Sandor, of whom Lisa is not sure if he is controlling him or helping him find his hacker.

Soon they will realize that a savvy kid named Cipi is a key character in the entire network of computer hacking and they must protect him at all costs from an evil Bulgarian gangster who tries to take advantage of the kid's knowledge for his own benefit.

nino-pareja'Hackerville 'has a pilot episode that works well enough to establish the initial premise of the move to Romania and present the characters, but does not progress adequately to stay in the comfort of having a megavillain that is charged to everything that is it puts him ahead with total cruelty and contempt for all, while the strange trio formed by the two policemen and the kid, must flee throughout Timisoara to avoid being discovered.

Soon it becomes a systematic hunt, with the police playing Don Tancredo, looking the other way for his own corruption due to his ties with the Bulgarian mafioso, but everything is executed in a rather clumsy way, despite having a level of high production as can be seen in the elaborate head of the series.

A serious problem of the series is the choice of the leading actress Anna Schumacher, a debutante whose main merit is her Romanian-German bilingualism thanks to being the daughter of Romanians (in fact her real father, acts as her father in fiction in 'Hackerville ') but as an actress, the character has been enormous, unable to transmit anything naturally and very forced at all times when you want to be intense without getting it, as if you were in the middle of a morning soap, instead of a drama computer

partner-protagonistYour partner of fatigue Sandor, is played by the expert Romanian actor Andi Vasluianu (Umbre) who at least has more idea to act in front of the camera and partly compensates for the lack of experience of his partner, but can not prevent 'Hackerville' does not go back until you reach an ending that closes the main story, a little hammered, but with possibilities to continue if you wish.

'Hackerville' has left me with some bitter aftertaste, because seeing the beginning I expected it to be better, so I'll be very cautious in my recommendation of a Romanian series well below its predecessor on HBO Europe, 'Umbre', much better achieved in all aspects.

To finish I leave you with the second trailer of 'Hackerville' which, in its dubbed version released in Spain, only dub the spoken parts in Romanian, leaving in VOSE those spoken in German.

Finally, I wish you a happy holiday and place them on the last Monday of the year, with the publication of my World XV 2018, with the best world series unpublished in our country.
