Hide the errors that occur in Excel and optimize its operation

As many of you already know, the Excel program that integrates with Microsoft's productivity suite, Office , is a powerful spreadsheet application. All this focuses on the treatment of numerical data in the best way, among other formats.

But of course, that is not all, but one of the strong points that this application presents, is the possibility of using and customizing formulas to work with those numbers. Of course, in order to use these elements in the best way, we need to have some experience in using the software.

With everything and with it the developer of the same, Microsoft , tries to help us as much as possible so that we use these formulas even without having much knowledge. Of course, some of those who have used them several times, surely you have found that these can occasionally produce errors that do not really need to be corrected. However, these punctual failures can become a nuisance for us to continue working with the rest of the document.

Excel may present some annoying errors

In the same way and due to these possible “false” errors, they can prevent other Excel formulas or functions from stopping their work, which affects the whole sheet. But of course, software developers have also thought about this, so we can fix it. This is something we will achieve by hiding these error values from the program itself. One of the solutions that we can use, is through the "IFERROR" function.

In this way and using the aforementioned function, we can replace the error shown suddenly, by another value, or even by an alternative formula. But this is not the only method we can use in this case. In the event that Excel suspects that we have made a mistake in the formula, it shows us a small green triangle in the upper left corner of the cell . Keep in mind that the appearance of this element does not mean that there is an error, but that the program has "doubts" about it.

Eliminate error messages in the Office program

And it is that this application automatically performs several background checks , so if the formula does not exceed one of these, the green indicator appears. Therefore, to make it disappear, we will have to click on the arrow. Then a contextual menu will appear in which we can already select the option "Skip error", where we click.

With everything and with it, we also have the possibility to completely disable the verification of Excel errors . This will help us so that the software does not warn us of these potential errors in the future. Thus, to deactivate them permanently, we have to place ourselves in the menu option “File / Options”. Once in this, next we select the category called «Formulas», where we can already uncheck the box called «Enable background error checking».
