How to mute the mobile on Android 9 Pie with a gesture

One of the innovations of Android 9 Pie that less has finished convincing is the new volume control. By default, the multimedia volume is now controlled by adding a new shortcut to silence the mobile.

In previous versions to put the phone in vibration only had to lower the volume to the maximum, and to silence it completely, touch the volume down button again. Well, in Android 9 Pie you have to make a gesture of two buttons.

Mute the mobile quickly

To mute a mobile that has the pure interface of Android 9 Pie now we can press the power button and the volume up button at the same time. By default the mobile will vibrate, but that behavior can be changed.

Change gesture behavior

In Settings-Sound-Direct access to prevent the device from ringing we can choose what we want the mobile to do with the volume of the tone. We can say that when we touch that combination of buttons that the mobile phone starts to vibrate, it is silenced completely, or simply that it does not do anything, that is, cancel that gesture.

Volume of the tone

To remove the vibration or silence of the mobile, you must open the volume control of the device by pressing one of the two volume buttons once. To return to having volume you have to touch twice on the vibration icon or once if you are already silent.

To change the volume of everything already we have to touch the gear icon from the volume control or from Settings-Sound. We have to adjust the Volume control of the tone, which is the tone for calls and notifications. The call volume is for the voice volume of the calls.
