Skype 7 for desktop is no longer available and forces you to update

Microsoft already warned a few months ago of the discontinuation of Skype 7 to make way for Skype 8, a new version full of new features such as Split View mode, but only in Windows 10.

Skype 7.4 from a few days ago forces all users to update Skype 8 or exit Skype. No other option is offered. This is a problem because although Skype 8 has new features, these are exclusive for the version that can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store in Windows 10.

For this reason, the fact of forcing Skype 8 to update, losing some features, is another way of forcing users to leave Windows 7 aside and jump to Windows 10.

If you are in this position and want to keep your Skype Classic (desktop version) running, you will have to return to the Skype version 7.36 or earlier. Version 7.36 does not include the ability to force the user to upgrade to Skype 8 and, for that reason, it is a good version to continue using. It is not an easy task, but it does not require very extensive knowledge
