It is still a very serious problem that can leave thousands of users with your computer practically unusable, because if Windows does not start, little can be done. However, this failure is affecting only very specific teams.
To which? To those who have the Secure Boot activated, which means that many users with more modern computers may be affected, since this feature is always activated in the default BIOS and must be deactivated manually.
The computers that have problems to start are those that have activated the option that we told you previously and also have three specific versions of Windows 10, Home, Professional and Enterprise.
Specifying a bit more, are affected by the Windows Defender update, versions 1607, 1703 and 1709 of Windows 10, which means that less Windows 10 October 2018 Update that does not fail, all others are suffering this problem when starting.
At the moment there is no definitive solution that can solve this update with failures for Windows Defender, the antimalware of the operating system, although there is a temporary solution that goes through a few steps:
- Restart your computer and try to enter the BIOS. To enter it, you must press the right key since, depending on the computer model you have, it can be one or the other.
- If you have managed to enter, among the options look for the option "Secure Boot" and deactivate it. Save the changes made and restart.
- Now open "command prompt" as administrator and run the following command "%programdata%\microsoft\windows defender\platform\\mpcmdrun.exe" -revertplatform ".
- Finally, restart the PC, access the BIOS and activate the "Secure Boot" again.
