YouTube will start showing two ads in a row before each video

For many years now YouTube has been supported by the publicity that its users visualize before and during each video, although it does so with controversial actions.

It's something that can be frustrating, especially because there are more and more ads that can not be skipped. The company knows this and therefore offers YouTube Premium, which among other advantages eliminates advertising.

However, far from reducing the burden of ads, the platform will start showing two before each video that has them, according to the company's blog. It will not be a phenomenon that occurs only at the beginning of the videos, but those that are shown in the middle will also arrive in pairs. The company calls them 'ad pods'.

With the 'ad pods', YouTube will show two ads together, but avoid interrupting both videos on channels that placed them every few minutes. Specifically, the company states that there will be 40% fewer advertising interruptions for each session. What will not change is that you can continue to skip the content if the ads shown are not interesting.

The change of course, says YouTube, is due to internal investigations, have realized that fewer interruptions are related to better metrics, which includes less abandonment of visualizations at the time and better figures of advertising viewing.

The two announcements will begin to go out all this year on the desktop, and then expand to smartphones and television applications.

Until now it showed loose ads, and this change definitely brings it closer to television, where a few years ago it became common to interrupt with a single wedge, but that has again opted for long interruptions. On the one hand, the fact that they can be passed on is intended for quick mobile visits, but on the other hand, the platform is also growing enormously on large screens.

This is accredited by YouTube, which offers the figure that users see more than 180 million hours of video every day. The company wants to be that home video center, and getting closer to something that has worked for traditional television can achieve more followers and less frustration. Because, on the other hand, ads are still seen rare in the digital age.
